Harkaraj Rai, mayor of Dharan sub-metropolitan city, has demanded a permanent solution to Dharan's drinking water problem. He demanded a plan for a permanent solution to Dharan's drinking water problem in the upcoming budget.
Water Minister Pradeep Yadav said that initiatives are being taken to solve the year-long drinking water problem of the citizens of Dharan. On Monday, a delegation led by Mayor Rai of Dharan sub-metropolitan city at the Ministry of Water Supply in Singhdarbar submitted a demand letter with a request to allocate the budget to solve the long-term problem of water supply.
Minister Yadav, while understanding the demand, said, 'The whole ministry, including me, is aware of the drinking water problem of the citizens of Dharan. We are committed to a long-term solution to the water supply there. Let's solve the problem.'
Minister Yadav assured that since he is already aware of Dharan's water supply problem, the water supply problem will be solved with the help of donor agencies for a long-term solution.
A delegation led by Mayor Rai drew special attention to Dharan's drinking water problem and submitted a letter to allocate the budget for drinking water in Dharan in the next financial year 2082/083.
Mayor Rai said that since the summer season has started, there is a very poor water supply situation in Dharan and citizens are suffering from water shortage due to lack of water. He said, 'The problem of water was already there, now that the summer season has started, it has become more of a problem. We have demanded a budget to permanently solve the water problem.'
