UML MP Raghuji Pant, who is leading the government, has said that former king Gyanendra Shah attempted a 'soft coup' on Chait 15 by making his supporters protest on the streets.

Pant said that after the RPP hoped to return to the throne through the constitutional process, former king Gyanendra Shah tried to seize the main administrative center of the country, Sinha Durbar and Narayanhiti Durbar, by inciting Durga Prasai.

In Friday's meeting of the State System and Good Governance Committee of the House of Representatives, MP Pant said that the activities of former king Gyanendra Shah should be controlled. He questioned why the government did not control even when the former king issued a statement in the capacity of the king.

'In a country with a republic, why is the government watching instead of calling it the dialogue secretariat of Shri 5's government ? Why is the information being issued as the government of Shri 5 now? Gyanendra has the right to travel around the country, abroad, like a common citizen . What is the government's statement on the statement of the intellectuals that the incident on the 15th happened due to the non-implementation of the Rayamazhi Commission report? MP Pant said, 'Why was Durga Prasain not arrested even though she was trampled by the police? If it was in his plan, why did he not make a statement? Gyanendra has a role or not? If so, it had to come among the people. In the incident of 15th, it is a 'soft coup' at the instigation of Bhupuraja. It's not a constitutional process, it's a coup . The plan is to capture Singha Durbar and Narayanhiti. Didn't Durga Prasai say come with weapons?'

Pant also said that behind the former king Shah's attempt to seize power by inciting Prasai, there was mistrust towards the royalist party RPRP .

Pant said that he took this step after Gyanendra Shah felt that Rajendra Lingden and Wise Tamang would contest the election, bring two-thirds majority and amend the constitution and return him to the throne. "That's why if it is possible to seize power even if it is through rebellion, then we will do it  The incident happened on Chait 15, he said.
