Violence in the name of freedom is always prohibited: President Paudel

President Ramchandra Paudel has said that although the Constitution of Nepal provides unrestricted freedom to citizens to express their opinions, acts of violence, arson, looting and vandalism are prohibited in the name of freedom.

Addressing the Diamond Festival of Public Service Broadcasting Organization, Radio Nepal here today, he said that in a democracy, the opinion of the people is the biggest and made it clear that no one should forget the arrangement, spirit and spirit of the Constitution.

President Paudel said, 'Constitution of Nepal has provided unrestricted freedom to citizens to express their opinion. Violence, arson, looting and vandalism in the name of freedom are always prohibited. I believe that everyone will become serious to prevent incidents of this nature from happening.'

President Paudel opined that the democratic culture and culture expected by the constitution should not be forgotten while using the rights granted by the constitution. He said, 'The constitution made by the people themselves through long struggle, sacrifice and sacrifice has given every citizen the right to express their disagreement. This is the most beautiful aspect of the federal democratic republic. However, while using this right provided by the constitution, it is necessary for us to be responsible towards the state, the law and the people.'

Indicating that journalists and the media have an important role in the democratic movement of Nepal, President Paudel said that by realizing this important and serious responsibility of the media world, full freedom of the press has been ensured in the constitution. He said that he and his generation grew up listening to Radio Nepal and mentioned that the programs such as news, education, public awareness and entertainment are still fondly remembered in his memory.

President Paudel mentioned that the development and expansion of mass media in the country has accelerated with the establishment of democracy and said that Radio Nepal has contributed significantly to the protection and promotion of the inclusive character of Nepali society to guarantee the citizens' right to information provided by the constitution. 

He said that the strengthening of democracy based on pluralism which protects the rights of all castes and languages ​​will be fulfilled while working as its religion. He said that the proof that the media is the center of trust of the public during disasters has been confirmed by the contribution made by the media including Radio Nepal during the 2072 earthquake and corona epidemic disasters.

President Paudel mentioned that the people's revolution of 2007 and Radio Nepal were two twin events in the history of Nepal and reminded that Radio Nepal played an important role in bringing the epoch-making message of the people's revolution of 2007 to the villages and people. He recalled the contribution of Tarini Prasad Koirala, the founder of Radio Nepal, and said that Koirala's democratic consciousness and values ​​are the main reason for the existence of Radio Nepal today.

President Paudel said, 'Now, Radio Nepal has developed as an independent, autonomous organization as a public broadcasting medium. Therefore, in accordance with democratic values ​​and the religion of independent professional journalism, I believe that I will adopt the basic norms accepted by the world regarding public service broadcasting to inform citizens by being clean, fair and accountable to the public.' At the

ceremony, President Paudel honored folk singer Ramakrishna Duwal and Deuda singer Nandakrishna Joshi with the 'Radio Nepal National Creator Award-2081'. He also honored senior musicians. 

In a program organized on the occasion of the Diamond Festival of Radio Nepal, the Minister of Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung presented long service medals to the best employees, journalists and 22 employees who have provided uninterrupted service for 25 years. He released the book 'Jhankar' published by Radio Nepal and the book 'Radio Nepal 75 Years: One Hundred and One Creators' by former director Tika Bhandari.

Radio Nepal, Nepal's first broadcasting organization, has entered its 75th year of official broadcasting from today. After the establishment of democracy on February 7, 2007, Radio Nepal was established on March 20, 2007. Radio Nepal, which has become an inclusive voice, has been broadcasting 24/7 with news in 25 languages ​​and programs in 24 languages. 

Radio Nepal, which has been upgraded as a public service broadcasting organization, is trying to take the content and presentation to a new format by focusing on national unity, protection and prosperity of citizens in disasters.
