Tribhuvan International Airport has been operating for 18 hours a day from today. For the improvement of the airport, from last November 23 to this Chait 18, the airport was closed for 10 hours a day for five months and the construction of the physical structure was done under the capacity enhancement of the airport.

Airport General Manager Jagannath Niraula informed that the airport will be open from 6 am to 12 pm from today.

According to him, the construction of the link way connecting the taxi-way of the airport with the runway has been completed. The parallel taxi way construction work is continuing. The Air Transport Capacity Enhancement Project under the Nepal Civil Aviation Authority is working on the expansion of the parallel 'taxi way' on the south-west side of the airport, the 'international apron' on the north side and the 'hangar apron' on the east side of the airport.

According to the project, about 15 billion rupees will be spent to complete these works. Project head Dipendra Shrestha said that 90 percent of the work has been completed so far. Although the physical structure work of the airport to be done during the night is almost completed, the project has informed that it will take about one and a half years to complete the entire work of the project.
