The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has granted amnesty to 166 Nepalis serving prison terms on the occasion of Ramadan, the holy month of Islam.

According to the Nepali Embassy in Abu Dhabi, amnesty has been granted to Nepalis who are serving prison sentences for various cases including alcohol consumption and theft. According to the embassy, ​​preparations are being made to bring them from the jail to the 'deportation center' and send them to Nepal.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, The UAE government granted amnesty to them at the request of the Nepali Embassy in Abu Dhabi. The Nepal government has expressed its gratitude to the UAE government for granting amnesty. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement today saying that the move of the UAE government is an example of cordial bilateral relations.

Similarly, Qatar has also granted amnesty to 18 Nepalis serving imprisonment. In this way, there are those who are in the final stage of completing the prescribed prison sentence for amnesty. Some of them were in jail even though they could not pay the fine.
