Consultations were held with former Prime Ministers and former Foreign Ministers on Monday regarding Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's official visit to Thailand and participation in the sixth summit of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC).

In the discussion held by Prime Minister Oli at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Singh Durbar, it has been suggested to use the visit in the fields of economic development, connectivity, energy, tourism and cultural exchange in Nepal for the maximum benefit of the country. Since this is going to be the first official visit of the Prime Minister of Nepal to Thailand, it has been suggested to take it as more important and gain benefits in various fields for the country. discussion, Prime Minister Oli clarified that Nepal will strive for world peace and regional cooperation and informed that he will use the visit for the benefit of Nepal by being sensitive to the interests of others. He emphasized that the campaign of South Asian Regional Cooperation Organization (SAARC) and non-aligned countries should also be activated at this time and said that suggestions received on how to give importance to national interests in the BIMSTEC conference will be considered.

Prime Minister Oli's official visit to Thailand from March 19th to 23rd and participation in the sixth summit of BIMSTEC has been scheduled. The official visit to Thailand and the visit of the delegation led by Prime Minister Oli to participate in the sixth summit of BIMSTEC has been approved by the meeting of the Government of Nepal, the Council of Ministers on the 11th of Chait.
