Civil organizations and civic leaders staged a dharna at Maitighar on Sunday, demanding the restoration of the monarchy.

Heads and representatives of various civic organizations and civic leaders participated in the sit-in held in coordination with the Federation of Non-Governmental Organizations.

Arjun Bhattarai, Chairman of the Federation of Non-Governmental Organizations, said that democracy is the only alternative to democracy and that they have to stage sit-ins for the protection of democracy and the implementation of the constitution.

During the sit-in, they have called for democracy, human rights and peace. To discourage anarchy and violence, they have demanded an end to impunity, control of anarchy, maintenance of good governance and adherence to the rule of law.

Similarly, they have drawn the attention of the government to ensure equality, justice and inclusiveness and to fully comply with the constitution.
