A 'Hashtag Arrest Gyanendra' campaign has been launched on social media demanding the arrest of the then King Gyanendra Shah and bringing him to justice.

On Friday, there was a demand on social media to convict Gyanendra Shah for the chaotic activities and looting that took place in the name of demonstration in Kathmandu demanding the restoration of the monarchy. Social media users launched a hashtag campaign on Saturday demanding the arrest of Shah. 

A journalist and a protester were killed and many others were injured during the Rajawadi demonstration in Tinkune on Friday. Dozens of other public houses, commercial establishments, media, political party offices and dozens of government and private vehicles were vandalized and set on fire.

A campaign was launched on social media to arrest the then Raja Gyanendra who was the planner of the protest. The police have arrested more than 100 people, including the leaders of RPP, Dhaval Shamsher Rana and Ravindra Mishra, on the charge of inciting the crowd to make the protest violent, vandalism and arson.
