V.No. In 1969, the current Palpa Hospital was opened under the name of Prithvichandra Hospital. At that time, the hospital opened for cholera control was established through Palpa Health Center on 14th Chaitra 2042 in the name of Palpa Hospital. Accordingly, Palpa Hospital celebrated its 113th anniversary for the first time.

The hospital has been upgraded as a 50-bed hospital by the Lumbini state government from the financial year 2077/78. But till now there is a problem in service delivery due to the lack of necessary manpower and infrastructure, Gurans Atreya, Chairman of Palpa Hospital Development Committee said. "We have to provide quality services with limited manpower," he said, "The number of patients is increasing daily, but the problem of lack of physical infrastructure is still there." Before the introduction of

health insurance, 40 to 50 patients were being served daily. President Atreya said that the hospital now provides services to around 400 to 500 people daily. The hospital currently has 7 ropani land . Mohan Kanya Mavi's hostel, which is connected to the hospital, has been taking initiatives for the acquisition of the land for the last few years. But so far the government  Consent could not be reached.

"It means to take the land next to Palpa Hospital and give the land of the health office in front of Mohan Kanya instead," President Atreya said. He said that in order to manage the land according to the standards set by the government, continuous efforts will be made in the relevant agencies to complete the process of exchanging land with Mohankanya Mavi.

On the occasion of the 113th anniversary, the hospital's medical superintendent Dr. Rameshwar Devkota said that there are years-old buildings as well as narrow classrooms, lack of specialist doctors, staff accommodation problems, lack of other specialized services including surgery rooms . In the program organized in the presence of the Minister of Health, he complained about the services available from the hospital, the condition of the clients, and the physical infrastructure.

Palpa Hospital has been upgraded as a 50-bed hospital, and there are 12 specialist doctor positions including the 11th level office head. But the post has not been filled according to the specialist doctor post . There is a post of 6 medical officers. But most of the medical officers are on scholarship contract. There are 64 approved posts.

Now there are 27 permanent posts . There are 84 employees working on the basis of positions, contracts, programs, scholarships and committee contracts. According to the data of the hospital, 98 thousand 727 patients were served by the hospital in the previous financial year and 53 thousand 850 patients in the current financial year.

On the occasion of the anniversary, Health Minister Khem Bahadur Saru laid the foundation stone of the building to be constructed for the purpose of operating the emergency and operation room. The building is going to be constructed with an investment of 50 lakhs by the Lumbini State Government and 20 lakhs by the Hospital Development Committee. The work has progressed with an agreement with the builders for 56 lakh 25 thousand one hundred and 73 rupees to be completed by June 15th. Minister Saroo believes that with the construction of the building, ease of service will be increased in the coming days.

He requested that the hospital should create an environment to provide quality services and pay attention to equipment connection. In the program, Lumbini State Assembly member Bir Bahadur Rana suggested that the government offices should only prepare the master plan and work plan while constructing the building. Tankanath Khanal, head of District Coordination Committee, said that the services provided by Palpa Hospital should be more quality and customer-friendly.

Santosh Lal Shrestha, Mayor of Tansen Municipality, pledged to provide necessary support for quality service delivery from Palpa Hospital. He complained that the mother safety program was run in nine local levels of Palpa but not in Tansen Municipality. Chief District Officer Toynarayan Subedi said that although it has been converted into a 50-bed hospital, there is a problem in service delivery due to lack of infrastructure.

He said that he has continuously taken initiatives to manage the land for Palpa Hospital. Yadavsingh Karki, a member of the Palpa Hospital Development Committee and spokesperson of Tansen Municipality, said that the final decision on land management for the hospital is in the process.   On the occasion of the anniversary, Palpa Hospital honored retired employees as well as employees who have been serving for a long time . This year the best employee was Madhu Khadka of Pharmacy.
