Congress president Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that the monarchy will not be restored by wishful thinking targeting the former king Gyanendra Shah. He said this at a program organized by the party's human rights department at the party's central office on Thursday.
Chairman Deuba claimed that BP Koirala, Ganeshman Singh, Krishna Prasad Bhattarai, Girija Prasad Koirala and many other Nepalese fought and established a democratic republic in Nepal and claimed that this system cannot be removed now.
'There is no wishful thinking . Through the Constituent Assembly, the republic has come according to the will of all the Nepali people. It is not going to go away, there is no going away,' he said.
He said that the Nepali people have accepted the republic and said that due to this arrangement, the constitution with inclusive and proportional representation was made in the country. He said, 'Our president cannot do a coup like a king does a coup . Under no circumstances will democracy be removed . This is a democracy, a democracy, a republic, we have to work to make it permanent.'
