Atrocities against Dalits in Siraha: Complaint registered against three people including village president for caste untouchability

In Aurhi of Siraha, the victim's family has filed a complaint with the police in the incident of atrocities on Dalits in the name of Maha Yagya. On Saturday, along with Dalit leaders, the victim's family filed a complaint at the District Police Office, Siraha.

In the complaint filed by Deepak Mallik, a victim of the Dalit community of Aurhi rural municipality-5, the village president Shivji Yadav, former ward president Dilip Yadav and Bajrangi Baba have been made defendants.

According to Kabuli Paswan, a former member of the National Dalit Commission, who is also a resident of Aurhi, in the complaint, it is demanded that the defendants should be punished according to the law and that compensation should be paid to the victim's family because of caste-touching, vandalism and displacement of the victim's family. Siraha Police Chief Superintendent of Police Ramesh Pandit informed that the complaint of the family of the

victim has been received and the process of legal action has been initiated. There is a legal provision of 3 months to 3 years and a fine of 50,000 to 200,000 for crimes related to caste untouchability.

In the name of Mahayagya scheduled to be held from Chait 17th, on February 10th Mallik's house at the Mahayagya site was demolished by village president Shivji Yadav, former ward president Dilip Yadav and Bajrangi Baba using dozers.

In this incident, the village president and the pre-ward president were arrested by the police only on Friday evening. Bajrangi Baba is absconding. The district police office, Siraha, is looking for him.
