Congress chief whip Shyam Kumar Ghimire expressed the view that 'sex business should be opened' in the House of Representatives meeting, the party leaders have objected.

Party officials and women leaders have also demanded action against Ghimire, who is speaking indiscriminately, as the person who is in charge of the chief whip represents the party in the parliament. They allege that his expression has defamed the party.

On Tuesday, Chief Whip Ghimire was not only heavily criticized for his statement in the office bearer's meeting held at the residence of Speaker Sher Bahadur Deuba in Budhanilkanth, Speaker Deuba also questioned him. After the chief whip of the party gave such a statement, the women MPs went to the official meeting and raised a question saying whether the statement is official of the party.

If it is not the official opinion of the party, they demanded that the officials who have such unrestricted expression should be punished. After MPs Ishwari Neupane, Sita Gurung took special time to draw attention to the issue, General Minister Gagan Thapa, Joint General Minister Mahalakshmi Upadhyay, Spokesperson Prakash Saran Mahat and other chief whip Ghimire commented that the party's image was affected when they spoke casually.

Leaders accused Ghimire of always focusing on his own interests rather than the interests of the party in his role as chief whip.

In the meeting, after everyone criticized Ghimire's expression and indicated that he should be removed from the post, Chairman Deuba instructed to call Ghimire as well.

Deputy Chairman Purna Bahadur Khadka defended Ghimire after being heavily criticized. "That may be his personal opinion, there is no such opinion of the party," a leader who participated in the meeting said, quoting Khadka's statement. No need for much controversy.'

Ghimire took special time to speak about it in the House of Representatives meeting on Sunday. His proposal was that sex business should be opened by legal arrangement for the development of the country. Religious tourists don't spend money. Spending money is the tourists who come to the entertainment sector, let's open up the sex business. Many foreign tourists come from it. This will contribute to the economic prosperity of the country," Ghimire said. He had previously held a similar view even though he was not a chief whip. Even then, his expression was controversial.

Central Member and Member of Parliament Sita Gurung said that the statement made by the person in charge of the party has tarnished the image of the party as it is a direct attack on the self-respect of women. 'There is diversity in the social structure of our society. In the past, there are communities that have been discriminated and exploited by the state in terms of caste, class and culture. Bringing such a legal proposal is yet another attempt to marginalize those communities. In the past, the government has not been able to bring them into the mainstream of the state because a community has been engaged in such unlimited work in the past,' said Gurung, 'in this way, it is not possible to take government action to attack the identity of women by giving legal recognition to the sex trade. We have drawn the attention of the officials in the party that when the chief whip of the main ruling party holds such an opinion in the parliament, we should also be careful. A person in a responsible position should not speak casually.'

MP Gurung said that if women are involved in such business, the state should give them an opportunity and rescue them.

Another Member of Parliament Sarita Prasai said that even though the chief whip spoke, the party's agenda could not be formed on the matter. 'He could not follow the dignity of office. You can't play with women's identity by talking casually,' she said.

After most of the leaders disagreed with Chief Whip Ghimire's opinion, Chairman Deuba instructed to withdraw his statement in Wednesday's meeting and demand that it be removed from the record.

The MPs of the main opposition CPN-Maoist Center and Rashtriya Prajatantra Party have already demanded that Ghimire's statement be removed from the parliamentary record, saying it is against parliamentary dignity.

Speaking at the meeting of the House of Representatives on Monday, Maoist MP Durga Rai demanded that Ghimire's statement regarding the opening of the sex business be removed from the parliamentary record. "Such an idea leads a disciplined and dignified society to anarchy". Therefore, I request that this statement be removed from the record," she said.

Sher Bahadur Tamang, who was also the law minister at the time, was stripped of his ministerial post when he made a statement in the parliament that 'Nepali schoolgirls who went to study in Bangladesh engaged in sex business'. He resigned from the post after heavy criticism.
