Congress Chief Whip Shyam Ghimire has apologized in the House of Representatives. Ghimire apologized for his statement that tourism should be promoted by opening the sex business.
Chief Whip Ghimire apologized at the beginning of Wednesday's meeting of the House of Representatives.
'The opinion expressed at a special time on 3rd of April is a personal opinion held in a special context as a member of parliament . This opinion is not even the official opinion of the Nepali Congress and the Parliamentary Party," said Ghimire. "If these opinions have had any negative impact on the honorable members of parliament and other people, I would like to respect them and apologize to them. Thank you."
Ghimire, who took a special time to speak at the meeting of the House of Representatives, proposed that the sex business should be opened for job creation and economic development in the country. He said that because religious tourists do not spend money and it does not help the country's economy, it should not be delayed to open the sex business. He said that the country benefits from sex tourism rather than religious tourists.
Chief Whip Ghimire's statement was criticized in the House of Representatives and Congress office bearers meeting.
