The parliamentarians have said that the Public Accounts Committee meeting of the House of Representatives has not been convened so that it has not been able to play an effective role. UML MP Rishikesh Pokharel, who is leading the government, has held only four meetings in the last seven months of the Audit Committee. The MPs of the ruling Congress have expressed their displeasure at the committee meeting, saying that the meeting was not called on time.

The audit committee meeting was called on Tuesday. In this meeting, the MPs expressed their displeasure that the meeting could not be held regularly. Former chairman of the committee and Congress MP Ramkrishna Yadav said that the meeting of the audit committee is also held 'like Dasain and Tihar'. At the beginning of the committee meeting, MP Yadav expressed his displeasure with Chairman Pokharel saying that he did not call the meeting.

'The Accounts Committee has also become like the zero time of the House of Representatives . There is a situation where things are put in the committee but not implemented,' Yadav asked Chairman Pokharel, 'The meeting of the committee is like Tihar and it is going to be held one day in a month, one day in two months with Pandit.' Yadav said that by not holding the meeting of the committee, a negative message is being sent to the people. 

Since August 9, the audit committee meetings were held on December 8, January 8-9, and February 6. Congress MP Arjun Narsingh KC also expressed his displeasure over the fact that the Audit Committee could not meet regularly. 'We have not been able to fulfill the responsibility of the accounting committee . We could not mobilize as effectively as we should. The audit committee did not operate effectively,' said Casey, 'the committee has been neglected and its effectiveness has been reduced . This does not bode well for democracy. We are all responsible in our own way for the audit committee not to be effective.' Amresh Kumar Singh, a member of the

committee, apologized for the ineffectiveness of the audit committee. He admitted that he missed the principle of having an audit committee in the parliamentary practice . MP Singh objected that the committee was trying to pass the agenda of the government, Energy Minister Deepak Khadka would quarrel with the executive director of Nepal Electricity Authority Kulman Ghising and the committee was involved in it. He said that even though there was a complaint about the increase in the price of cement by the industrialists with the involvement of the government, the committee did not discuss it. 'If there is no meeting one day a week, what is the committee for?', he asked.

Member of Parliament Arjunnar Singh KC said that the government did not respond to the instructions given by the Accounts Committee and that the effectiveness of the committee was questioned when the minister also did not fulfill his responsibilities. 

UML MP Yogesh Bhattarai, who is leading the government, said that because the role of the Accounts Committee is more than other committees of the House of Representatives, it is necessary to show vigilance in order to maintain economic governance in the country.

"Accounting committee is more special than other committees in terms of operations". It has a greater role in monitoring the government, especially in maintaining economic governance. How effectively this role has been implemented by this committee, of course, this is a subject that will be evaluated by common citizens as well," he said. He demanded to call the officials of the Prime Minister's Office and the Authority Abuse Investigation Commission regarding the implementation of the directives of the committee. "Giving instructions and not implementing them is disrespectful to the committee," he said.

Maoist MP Janardhan Sharma said that it is necessary to prioritize the complaints registered in the Accounts Committee and take further action. He demanded that the committee secretariat should take the documents related to the complaint from the relevant body and investigate. The member of the United Samajwadi Party, Prem Elle, said that compared to the previous tenure of the House of Representatives, the current Accounts Committee was unable to work. It is this committee that should raise its voice when the property of the state is misused. In the past Widebody, Scientific One,  Trunkline and dedicated line we investigated . We have concluded some things,' he said. All of us, including you, need to be aware of this.'

Congress MP Rajendra KC said that the audit committee could not even give an annual report. He said that there had been a complaint about Pokhara Airport and Bhairahawa Airport and it had become a national issue, but the committee could not pass it. He said that it is not possible to implement the instructions given by the committee. He said that the relevance of the complaints registered in the committee has been exhausted but there has been no discussion. "If we cannot discuss the complaint in time, the relevance will be lost," he said. Maoist MP Lekhnath Dahal said that the Audit Committee should seriously investigate the issues related to corruption and that it could not be done because the meeting was not held.
