We will conclude the Everest Dialogue on time, which is the highest priority of the government: Chief Secretary Aryal

The Chief Secretary of the Government, Ek Narayan Aryal, has said that the highest priority of the Government, 'Sagarmatha Samvad-2025', will be completed on time.

In a press conference held on Sunday to inform about the preparations for the dialogue at the office of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers, Chief Secretary Aryal said that the government is working to make it successful.

'We are trying to lead on behalf of the mountainous country on the issue of climate change at the international level,' he said, 'and we are trying to establish the Everest Dialogue as a forum for bargaining on the issues of Nepal at the international level.'

The government has already invited 450 heads of state, heads of government, famous personalities, rights activists, and media persons from different countries to the Everest Dialogue to be held in Kathmandu on 2nd, 3rd and 4th May 2081. However, due to security protocols, the details of the participants were not made public immediately, said Amrit Bahadur Rai, Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

"Based on how many guests we can welcome, we are sending invitations by mobilizing the Nepalese embassies abroad, mobilizing the foreign embassies in Kathmandu," he said, "We need everyone's support to successfully conduct this Everest dialogue and bring it to an end."

Maheshwar Dhakal, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Forests and Environment and Member Secretary of the Everest Dialogue Committee, informed that 'Innovative Climate and Carbon Financing' has been placed in the fifth theme of the dialogue to promote the use of natural resources and resources. 

Regarding the climate finance support provided by the United States and the decision to separate from the Paris Agreement, he further said, 'It is difficult for us to predict which line the international architecture of international climate finance will take . We are also in a wait and see situation.' 

But he also said that Nepal is trying to move forward by being self-sufficient. "Now we have to make use of our natural resources and means". That's why we have included this topic in the fifth theme of the Everest dialogue,' he added, 'in that, we are making regulations for carbon financing from energy, waste, agriculture and not only about carbon.'
