Communication and Information Technology Minister Prithvi Subba Gurung has asked the local level to collect the revenue from the hoarding board themselves. In the capacity development program on the role of advertising agencies in advertising promotion conducted by the Advertising Board today, he mentioned that there is a wide revenue leakage through the Hoarding Board and requested the local level to immediately stop the revenue collection contract and collect the revenue by themselves.

Minister Gurung mentioned that about 20 billion in revenue has been lost due to this and drew the attention of the local level to control the revenue leakage. He also asked to follow the legal provisions that require permission from the local level when placing hoarding boards.

'It has been found that there has been extensive revenue leakage in advertisements from hoarding boards and about Rs 20 billion in revenue has been lost, I request you to immediately stop the work of contracting out the revenue collection and collect the revenue yourself,' Minister Gurung said, 'Also, it is beneficial for the state to pass the model of the local level advertisement act prepared and sent by the advertisement board.'

Minister Gurung emphasized that the local level should also collect the revenue for advertising during the festival. He also informed that the advertisement act is going to be amended to regulate the advertisement on social media. He expressed his commitment that the draft of the National Advertising Policy that has been prepared will be passed by the Council of Ministers as suggestions have been received from the Ministry of Finance and the National Planning Commission.

He said that with the passing of the National Advertising Policy, the Advertising (Regulation) Act, 2076 will be amended, and the system of regulation and self-regulation will be made more effective. He mentioned that the development and expansion of the advertising market will also be done through the board. He said that by classifying and leveling the media, the data system needed by the advertiser will be developed, and the government advertisement will be made more systematic and transparent.
