6 injured in a clash between juvenile detainees at the Banke Correctional Home

6 people were injured in a clash between children kept at the Jayendu Children's Reform Home in Asamanpur, Duduwa Rural Municipality-6 of Banke. Two of them are serious. 18 children have been detained by the police.

On Friday night, there was a clash between two groups at the Children's Correctional Home. As the dispute escalated, the children's correctional home, which became tense, was taken under control by the police for 4 hours. The District Police Office Banke said that a large number of Nepal Police and Armed Police teams have taken control of the correctional home on Saturday. Since Friday, there was a fight between the two groups due to a dispute. We took 15 people to the hospital at night," said Banke police chief SP Tul Bahadur Karki, "on Saturday, we arrested the group involved in the beating." 

Some policemen were also injured by stone pelting by child detainees. According to the police, they set fire to the second floor of the correctional home and caused some damage. Even the firemen who went there to put out the fire were not allowed to enter and after repeated calls for talks were not heard, the police forcefully entered and arrested everyone. 

"When people above 18 years of age and under 18 years of age are kept together in the correctional home, there is a situation of clashes," said Vimala Kaucha, in charge of the children's correctional home, "The police cannot go inside." On the contrary, they come to beat the police. And they cut themselves.' There are 250 children in the correctional home. According to human rights activist Basant Gautam, who visited the injured child in the hospital, it was seen that the wound was caused by the use of sharp weapons during the clash.

Sulab KC from Butwal was killed and 10 others were injured in a clash between juveniles in this correctional home last year. Most of the children are involved in crimes such as forced labor and forced labor in child correctional homes that are being operated to correct children involved in child labour. Due to the lack of security, there have been incidents of children running away from orphanages.
