Up to the second quarter of the current fiscal year 2081/82, the government's expenditure has been higher than its income. According to the data of the Comptroller General's Office, by the end of February last year, the government had earned 7 billion 38 billion 82 billion 13 million rupees, but spent 8 billion 39 billion 35 billion 6 million rupees.
In other words, by the second quarter, the government's expenditure is 1.53 crore 47 lakh rupees more than its income.
Similarly, the government's development expenditure has also been very weak during this period. According to the data of the Comptroller General, the capital expenditure is only 23.37 percent of the annual allocation by the end of February. For the current financial year, the government has budgeted 352 billion 354 million rupees for the capital budget, so far only 82 billion 336 million rupees have been spent.
The government had brought a budget of 18 trillion 60 billion 33 million rupees for the current financial year. By the end of February, 45.12 percent of the annual allocation, i.e. eight trillion 39 billion 356 million rupees, has been spent. 11 trillion 40 billion 664 billion 45 million rupees have been allocated for the current title, 51.21 percent or five trillion 84 billion 12 billion 78 million rupees have been spent. 47.07 percent of the allocation of 3 trillion 67 billion 28 billion 45 million rupees under the heading of financial management has been spent equal to 1 trillion 72 billion 89 million 22 million rupees.
For the current financial year, the government has set a target of collecting revenue equal to Rs. Out of which, 12 trillion 84 billion 209 million rupees have been allocated for tax revenue, 49.74 percent or 6 billion 38 billion 79 million rupees have been collected.
Similarly, the target of collecting 1 trillion 35 billion 934 million rupees towards non-tax revenue has been collected so far, 60.36 percent i.e. 81 billion 54 million 77 million rupees.
The government's collection of foreign grants is also very weak. For the current financial year, there is a target of collecting 52.32 billion 65 million rupees as foreign subsidy, so far 17.51 percent of the annual target i.e. 9.16 billion 2.5 million rupees has been collected.
