A single 'font' has been created with the aim of creating a common writing system for 125 languages spoken in Nepal. The font has been created according to the agreement between Nepal Pragya Pratishtha and the development study working group of the common writing system of Nepalese languages and the cover publication.

Artist Ramesh Paudel based on the report of the working group by 'designing' a 'font' named 'Dubo'. He said that the font was handed over to the foundation on Tuesday. Paudel, managing director of

Marsar Publications, said that the 'Dubo' font, which has 224 'characters', is easy to use even though it has a different 'layout' than Devanagari and 'Unicode.'

On that occasion, the linguist Prof. Dr. Madhav Pokharel proposed the font for many languages that are not written but are spoken in Nepal. He expressed his belief that it will help in solving the problem in the writing system. Chancellor of the institution Bhupal Rai said that a new font has been created with the help of an expert working group and this effort will be very useful.

Chairman of Language Commission Dr. Gopal Thakur said that the proposed font will bring uniformity in the writing of all the languages spoken in Nepal. Dr. Amrit Yonjan Tamang, the coordinator of the working group, said that the proposed font will facilitate the writing of Nepalese languages. Prof. Bhimnarayan Regmi, a member of the working group, made a presentation with the features of the proposed font. In the

event, the member secretary of Pratishtha Dr. Dhanprasad Subedi, Prof. Ram Lohani, Dr. Krishnaprasad Chalise, Dr. Karnakhar Khatiwada, Dilendra Subba, Dr. Suryaprasad Yadav and Rajanlal Joshi commented with curiosity about the proposed font. The study working group formed by the

foundation had Dr. Tamang as its coordinator, Dr. Bishnu Kumar Sinjali as its co-coordinator, and Prof. Bhimnarayan Regmi, Dr. Taramani Rai, Amberjung Limbu, Prof. Trailokyaman Banepali and Hanswati Kurmi as members.
