Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has held a telephone conversation with Egyptian President Abdel Fateh al-Sisi on Wednesday evening and requested them to take more initiatives for the release of Nepali student Bipin Joshi, who was held hostage by Hamas.

Prime Minister Oli requested President Abdel to play a role in the safe and speedy release of Joshi, a student working in Israel under the 'Learn and Earn' program. In response, President Abdel has informed that his efforts will continue in this matter .

Prime Minister Oli has expressed his gratitude for efforts to prioritize the name of Joshi, who was taken hostage by Hamas on October 7, 2023, in the list of the second round of prisoner exchange between Israel and Hamas.

Prime Minister Oli mentioned that Nepal has welcomed the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas and the important role played by the Arab Republic of Egypt during that process. Prime Minister Oli clarified that Nepal is always in favor of world peace and expressed gratitude to Qatar and the United States government for playing a role in this humanitarian work.
