The issue of expansion of the main road of Birganj Bazar, which is under consideration in the Supreme Court, was decided on Wednesday. After the joint bench of Supreme Court Justices Vinod Sharma and Mahesh Sharma Paudel rejected all the 5 writs of the writ petitioners, the way for Road Department Hetaunda office to widen the main road of Birganj by 25/25 meters to the right has been opened.

The 28th hearing of the much-awaited case was scheduled for Tuesday. After it was not delivered on Tuesday, it was kept on 'watching' for Wednesday. Lawyer Dhan Bahadur Thapa of Birgunj Metropolitan City office said that the verdict was reached today after the arguments continued after the sitting of the bench on Wednesday.

Advocates Ishwar Baral and Subhash Pokharel along with Thapa argued on behalf of Birganj Mahanagar. Senior advocate Shambhu Thapa and others argued on behalf of the writ petitioners.

Advocate Dhan Bahadur Thapa said that after the two-judge bench rejected all the 5 writs, now there is no obstacle for the road department office Hetounda to proceed with the expansion of the main road of Birganj metropolis.  Under the Tribhuvan Rajpath, the main road extension from Gandak Chowk of Virganj Metropolitan City to Power House Chowk, Ghantaghar, Adarsh Nagar, Rajatjayanti Chowk, Shankaracharyadwar to Miteri Bridge was stopped due to this case.

Lakshman Sah Rauniyar, a resident of Birgunj, filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court on October 7, 2076 to stop the work of Tribhuvan Rajpath extension.  In the writ, cases have also been filed against the Office of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers, Singhdarbar Kathmandu, Road Division, Hetounda, Business Road Expansion Plan, Birgunj Pathalaiya, District Administration Office, Parsa, District Police Office, Parsa, and Malport Office, Parsaup.

In connection with this case, there was a deportation case registered by Rajkumari Devi Tulsyan on 21st January 2076, by Bharat Prasad Rauniar on 27th January 2077, by Birendra Kumar Sanghai on 17th October 2076, and by Vikram Gurung on 11th November 2075. The first hearing of this case was on October 8, 2076 for which the show cause order was issued.

Under the road department, the road division office Hetaunda and the commercial road expansion project office prepared to expand the road after Chhath in 2076, but the house owners around it were becoming obstacles. After the expiry of the 15-day notice issued by the office in August 2076, the project office gave another deadline and asked the house owners to demolish their houses themselves. During this period, the road expansion project has also completed one phase of survey work.

Most of the houses on the right side of the main road of Birganj metropolis on Tribhuvan Rajpath are dilapidated and unpainted. It is also reducing the splendor of the metropolis.

Under the Tribhuvan Rajpath, from Pathlaiya through Simra to Jitpur and Parwanipur cities, 25-25 meters of road on the right and left side of the Rajpath were extended and with the construction of 6-lane roads, those cities also got a new look. But  The work of expanding the main road of Birgunj metropolis has not progressed for two decades.

Since 5 years old bypass road, inner bypass road in Birganj has been upgraded. A 6-lane road, about 8 km long, has been constructed from Parwanipur to Sukkha Bandargah Chowk. Apart from that, another paved road about 8 km long has been constructed on the east side of Sawik's bypass. But the road extension work of Tribhuvan Rajpath from Nepal-India border to Gandak Chowk has not yet been completed.

Under the Tribhuvan Rajpath, from Ganthghar to the Nepal-India border, it is very busy and congested.
