It has been revealed that an Indian citizen has taken Nepalese citizenship with the collusion of public representatives and employees in Siraha. Based on the recommendation of Naraha rural municipality-3 ward office, Indian citizen Mostak Mian got citizenship.
Mostak is a resident of Deudha in Jayanagar Gram Panchayat, Madhubani District of Bharat Vihar. Based on the recommendation of Ward President Rushtam Ansari, Siraha district administration issued citizenship number 150180-4362 in the name of Mostak on 26 June 2080. Even though the ward recommends, the district administration, which issues citizenship to most of them only after necessary examination and payment of the locals, does not seem to be doing normal work on this.
Amanat Mian of Naraha-3 Khoria and his wife Razina Khatun have been asked to show their parents for identification. However, they said that Mostak is not their son and they do not know him. They claim that the signature was done by bowing down when they went to the ward for personal work. "When we went to the ward, the secretary asked us to correct this too, so we did it, we did not read and write," Amanat said.
Ward president Ansari has also admitted that Mostak is not the son of Amanat and Razina. However, Ansari argues that they are relatives. "Mostak is not their son, but a relative," he said. "I am an employee, I don't know everyone here," he said. Less than a week after the citizenship was issued, on July 1, 2080, Ulfat Mian, a local resident, filed a complaint with the district administration saying that the citizenship was given due to economic temptation. Similarly, the local Inus Mian also filed a complaint with the Authority Abuse Investigation Commission on July 4, 2080 for action. In the complaint, he has mentioned that citizenship was given to an Indian through financial manipulation and the Ward President took one lakh, the ID deposit and the resignation took fifty/fifty thousand Indian rupees.
The Authority has responded that a letter was sent to the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Authority's office at Bardibas on 15 July 2080 for investigation and necessary action on August 4, 2080. Saying that no action has been taken on this, Inus addressed the secretary on 6th of November 2080 and filed a complaint with the Ministry of Home Affairs. However, action has not yet been taken against those involved in granting citizenship to Indian citizens. Chief District Officer of Siraha, Basudev Dahal, has claimed that the district administration has revoked the citizenship after receiving the complaint and that the matter is being investigated.
