It is necessary to create jobs according to skills: Mahamantri Thapa

The ruling Congress General Minister Gagan Kumar Thapa has said that it is necessary to create jobs according to skills. In a program organized at the Congress Central Office on solving the employment problem on Sunday, General Minister Thapa said that 81 percent of the manpower in the Nepali market is unskilled and low-level labor force.

Thapa also said that manpower with necessary skills in industries operating in Nepal is being imported from abroad. He also claimed that there is an increase in the number of Nepali manpower going abroad as there is a demand for unskilled labor abroad.

'Hydro power is being built in Nepal, which has created jobs, but Nepalis are not getting jobs. We are saying that Nepali people don't get work, but why they don't get work is this. 45 percent compared to Chinese, India  81 percent of production is seen in the calculation. Why did this happen? Most of our manpower in the labor market is level one. Level one means the lowest type of skill,' said Thapa, 'there are people in the labor market . Someone opened an industry . He needs workers . Skill giving is on the other side . The skills that are needed are not coming . Again, the market outside (abroad) needs people without skills. We only say that our man has gone out, we don't find out why. He has the age, the labor power but no skills .'

Thapa said that job opportunities are created only for those who have skills in Nepal. "In some cases, it seems that only jobs with skills are created in our country." 85 percent of the labor force in the agricultural sector is from level one, he said.

General Minister Thapa said that a large population in the country is alienated from employment and even those who are employed are forced to go abroad due to low wages. He said that most of the workers come from abroad due to the disinterest of Nepali youth in some jobs including gold jewelry making. In such a situation, Thapa said that employment opportunities should be created according to the skills of Nepalis.
