Physical Infrastructure and Transport Minister Devendra Dahal has said that the work under the second section of the Kathmandu Ring Road will start shortly.

Answering the queries raised by the MPs during the emergency and zero time meeting of the House of Representatives today, he informed that a 'service lane' is being constructed towards the second section of the ring road.

'Since all the preparatory work of the main lane has been completed, the rest of the construction work will start in a short time with the help of the Chinese government,' Minister Dahal said. He mentioned that the ministry is taking initiatives to increase capital expenditure. According to Dahal, the expected results have been achieved in the construction and upgrading of national highways including Nagadhunga-Muglin, BP Highway, North-South Corridor, East-West Highway.

He said, 'By the middle of last December, the Siddhababa tunnel broke through, and the construction of 41 bridges has been completed till January 17th. Three kilometers of railway 'track' and 246 km of black road on two lanes and 30 km on six lanes have been completed.'

Minister Dahal informed that the target set for the distribution of driver's license has not been met. "In the meantime, it was said that 900,000 'smart licenses' would be distributed, but only 169,439 were printed and distributed," he said.

Minister Dahal expressed his commitment to resolve the issues raised by MPs regarding the ministry.
