Two Nepalese students were arrested on rape charges in America, a case was registered in the court

Two Nepali students have been arrested in the US on rape charges. After one was arrested by the police, the other surrendered to the police. Those arrested are 19-year-old Sujan Tamang and 20-year-old Deepak Phuyal.

Tamang and Phuyal, who are students at St. Cloud State University in the state of Minnesota, have been accused of raping a female student on the night of November 1 in the dormitory room of the university located at First Avenue South in St. Cloud, Minnesota. After the

incident, they were also questioned by the police. It is understood that during the interrogation, they claimed that they were not involved in the incident. During interrogation, they absconded after giving their explanation. After escaping, the Minnesota police issued a nationwide wanted notice to arrest Tamang and Phuyal.

A week ago, after Phuyal was arrested in California, Tamang surrendered to the New York Police Department the next day. While they were absconding, the police registered a case against them. Eastern County Police filed a case on February 21 in the Eastern County Court of the State of Minnesota. The police will present them to the court for the first time on Wednesday, March 5, local time.

Fuyal was arrested by the Street Crimes Unit of the Fremont Police Department in California. In order to send him to Minnesota, the police said that he will be submitted to the East County Hall of Justice on Thursday.  He is being held at Santa Rita Prison in California. Phuyal transferred to college after the incident. He was recently studying at San Francisco Bay University.

The St. Cloud Police Department reported that the victim reported the incident within a few days through a complaint. According to the department, a wanted notice was immediately issued after getting information that they had left the university when they tried to arrest them after the complaint. A few hours after the rape incident, Phuyal sent a message to the victim through Instagram asking about her condition.

The police claim that the DNA sample collected during the medical examination of the victim has been matched with both Phuyal and Tamang. According to US law, Phuyal has been charged with first and third degree criminal sexual abuse and first degree criminal sexual abuse.

The police is preparing to file a case against Tamang based on the charge of first degree criminal sexual abuse and fourth degree criminal sexual abuse. Tamang and Phuyan, accused in the rape incident, were admitted by the university for the fall semester but not for the spring semester.
