Rupesh Mandal, the main accused of the 17-year-old Rinkukumari Sada incident of Bhagwatipur, Navrajpur Rural Municipality-1 of Siraha, has been extended two days. The police extended two days' time on him from the Siraha District Court.
Chief Superintendent of Police of District Police Office, Siraha, Ramesh Pandit informed that after the extension of time by the court, a detailed investigation has been started on him. Rupesh was arrested today. A special team of the police arrested him at 11:30 in the morning from Dasgaja area located in Sirha municipality 17 .
Rinku, who went out to defecate on the night of last January 27, was gang-raped by three local youths. However, with the involvement of local people including ward members, on 29th and 30th, an attempt was made to settle the incident in the village.
The panchayat decided to pay a fine of 140,000 from the rapist and not to let the victim go to the police. However, the victim girl was found hanging dead in her house on the evening of 30th, amid threats from the perpetrators after the panchayat failed to meet.
After the news about this incident, the police is investigating after taking a complaint against three people involved in rape and 5 people who were involved in panchayati. During the investigation, three others have already been arrested on February 11.
