An ordinance on promoting good governance was approved by the House of Representatives

The majority of the House of Representatives has approved the proposal to approve the Ordinance, 2081 to amend some Nepal Acts related to the promotion of good governance and public service delivery.

On behalf of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, the Minister of Communications and Information Technology Prithvisubba Gurung presented a proposal in the parliament that 'Ordinance 2081 to amend some Nepal Acts related to the promotion of good governance and public service delivery' should be approved. Presenting the

proposal, Minister Gurung said that with the aim of promoting good governance and making public services effective, the government has brought an ordinance with amendments. Answering the questions raised while presenting the notice of rejection of the ordinance, he mentioned that the ordinance is indispensable to promote good governance and make public services effective.

Minister Gurung made it clear that the ordinance had to be brought because it is imperative to promote good governance and take the country to the speed of economic development. He said that the process of amending the law has been advanced to facilitate the arrival of non-resident Nepalis to Nepal and to bring in investment, knowledge and capital learned abroad.

Minister Gurung opined that the ordinance was introduced because it was inevitable that the existing laws should be amended for good governance management. Insisting that there is no point in opposing the ordinance brought by the government, he said, 'in order to provide public services to the common citizens in a short time without any hassles, the amendments made regarding the promotion of good governance by practicing the highest level of information technology are appropriate.'

Earlier, the proposal put forward by MP Bhanubhakt Joshi to 'reject the Ordinance, 2081 to amend some Nepal Acts related to the promotion of good governance and public service delivery' was rejected by the majority.
