The repair of the BP highway damaged by the flood in the second week of last October has been speeded up. The Divisional Road Office, Bhaktapur has informed that the temporary repair has been accelerated from Chowkidanda in Namobuddha Municipality to Kavrepalanchok and Sindhuli's border crossing Nepalthok under the highway.

According to the office, the Roshi area is being repaired so that there will be no traffic disruptions in the coming winter season. Senior Divisional Engineer Suman Yogesh informed that the road is currently being repaired using loaders and dozers.

According to Yogesh, considering the condition of the diversion and the old road in Bagar, two to three meters of gravel has been filled and heightening has been started by filling netting in difficult places. Work is being done to widen the damaged road, repair it and fill it with gravel to make it about three meters above the surface of the river. Out of a total of 13 kilometers of damaged roads, eight kilometers will be repaired in the first phase, while plans will be made for further repairs of the rest.

For the temporary repair of Dhulikhel-Nepalthok and Nepalthok-Khurkot road sections of the highway, the government has allocated a budget of 21 crore 25 lakh rupees for now. Yogesh said that the work to be done from that budget is being designed and after the design is completed, the cost estimate will be taken and the contract process will be taken. At present, the means of transport going east from Kathmandu including Ramechhap, Sindhuli are making a difficult and dangerous journey on the unpaved roads of Khola Bagar.

According to the study conducted by the Division Road Office, it is estimated that it will cost 9 billion 66 million rupees to rebuild in various places from Bhakunde to Nepaltok.

'Though the study shows that a bridge should be built first in some places, a conclusion will be reached after further discussions about whether to build a bridge or build a wall,' said Yogesh. Yogesh said that the reconstructed road will have a two-lane road with 'asphalt concrete'. Earlier, the road was called "Intermediate Lane".
