Former President Bidya Devi Bhandari has suggested Prime Minister and UML President KP Sharma Oli to reunify the communist movement.
Addressing the launch program of the book 'KP Sharma Oli: Dreams, Sangharsh and Sankalp' on Monday, former President Bhandari said that Prime Minister Oli had played a role in unifying the communist movement before and suggested that he should continue to do so in the future.
Bhandari said that a political party should deeply embrace democratic values, beliefs and ideals even in difficult situations. She said that any political events and incidents cannot disturb the UML, which has given high priority to pluralism and multi-party competition and aims to reach the leadership of the government through political superiority and socio-economic transformation.
'This party has a wide range of people-based, disciplined and dedicated workers and members, an experienced, restrained and determined leadership level and an articulated fundamental principle of guiding the way to prosperity,' Bhandari said, 'The party of which Prime Minister Oli is the president has been making an important contribution to the political, social and economic transformation of the country. I appreciate the historic role played by President Oli in democratizing the internal life of UML, unifying the communist movement and strengthening the party by defeating factions and splits. In the future as well, he will make a great contribution to take the next step of success by making the Nepali Communist Movement more united by maintaining these kinds of creative initiatives and leadership.' After that unity, Nepal Communist Party was formed and almost two-third majority was obtained in the House of Representatives and Oli was elected as the Prime Minister. The party broke up after the dispute in CPN.
Bhandari also said that Prime Minister Oli is a popular politician. Bhandari said that Prime Minister Oli is a good leader who will lead the party, society and the country to progress towards the set goals by adopting maximum flexibility in behavior according to the needs.
