Foreign Minister Arju Rana Deuba held a meeting with United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Valkar Tak in Geneva.
Minister Deuba, who is in Geneva to participate in the 58th high-level session of the United Nations Human Rights Council, met with the High Commissioner during a sideline meeting on Wednesday. On the occasion of the
meeting, the Foreign Minister said that Nepal is an exemplary and pioneering country in the world in the protection and promotion of human rights. She said . He informed that the current constitution of Nepal provides civil liberties as well as political, economic, social and cultural rights of citizens as fundamental rights and the Government of Nepal is committed to democratic values, rule of law and independence of the judiciary. She made it clear that she was fully committed.
Minister Deuba informed that the government of Nepal has proceeded cautiously by creating a law on transitional justice to complete the rest of the peace process and also expressed commitment to finish the transitional justice soon. She did .
The meeting was attended by Krishna Prasad Dhakal, the head of the United Nations Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ram Prasad Subedi, the Permanent Representative of Nepal to the United Nations in Geneva, the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers for Human Rights and International Affairs.
