The General Minister of the ruling Nepali Congress, Gagan Kumar Thapa, has said that when one leader of the party commits corruption, it is not fair to blame the whole party and all the leaders of that party. He proposed to form a high-level commission of inquiry to investigate all the corruption so far and bring the culprits to justice.
Addressing the Congress program at Liwang in Rolpa on Sunday, he said that he will take the proposal to the ruling coalition and the Prime Minister.
He said that in many cases of corruption, it is not practical to blame this or that leader and the related party and leader workers all the time. "Whoever has made a mistake in public office, has committed corruption, cheated the country and the people, he should be punished," said General Minister Thapa, "It is not right that he should burn the affiliated parties and all the leaders because of that one person."
He claimed that it is not fair that all 866 members of the Congress should continue to bear the charges of corruption because of one Congress leader.
'There are 866 thousand members of Congress across the country. Among them, thousands of leaders and activists are people's representatives. There are hundreds of parliamentarians and ministers. If one of them makes a mistake or commits corruption, then the whole party should not bear the burden of the wrongdoing done by that one person. In Congress, wrong can be called wrong. If the law says guilty, whoever that person is should be under the scope of action. Be it Congress or Communist, if they are guilty, they should be punished,'' General Minister Thapa said, 'My proposal is to form a high-level commission under the coordination of the former Chief Justice. Through that, let's investigate the properties of all the people who have held public positions including the Prime Minister, Minister. Let's investigate all the scandals. Whoever is guilty, let's take action according to the law without looking at the party and without saying this or that party.'
