Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office has prepared a security plan to manage the rush in Pashupati area during Mahashivratri. The office is going to depute 890 traffic policemen under the command of DSP just for Shivratri.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police Vinod Ghimire, the head of the office, parking arrangements have been made for the vehicles of the devotees entering through different gates. According to him, parking will be possible in front of Tilganga Eye Hospital, on the corridor road between Siphalchaur and Guheswari.
On the day of Shivratri, the traffic police have planned to prohibit all goods vehicles coming from Tinkune to Sinamangal, from Buddhist area to Gaurighat, old Baneshwar, Gaushala and Mitrapark. If there is too much traffic at Gaushala Chowk, the traffic police is planning to operate an alternative route from Chabhil to Gaushala, from Old Baneshwar to Gaushala, from Dyaneshwar Maitidevi to Ratopul to Gaushala and from Siphal Chowr to Jai Bageshwari.
Traffic police chief Ghimire said that traffic police will be deployed in large numbers on corridor roads and internal roads to manage smooth traffic.
Traffic Police Spokesperson Superintendent of Police Sanjay Bahadur Raut said that plainclothes traffic police have been mobilized to control and monitor possible vehicle theft.
