The main opposition Maoist deputy general secretary and former finance minister Barshman Pun has said that there is a need for a change in the "view tower development model" in the country.
In the party program held in Jhapa on Saturday morning, Pun said that Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's 'view tower' development model is unproductive.
Pun was trying to establish that development is the vision from the federal government to the ward level on the need to ensure education, health, employment and safe housing for the homeless. In a democracy, education, health and employment should be the priority of the government. After Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli brought the concept of view tower, every ward, municipality, province has become like a view tower, which means development, and the pride of the country is like a view tower. Prime Minister Oli made Viewtower a development model. I have said in the Parliament before, there is a serious flaw in his development model.'
Claiming that there are more than 4,000 squatters in Jhapa 5, Prime Minister Oli's constituency, Pun said that they did not think about providing safe accommodation, food and employment to those people before Viewtower.
Pun said that unnecessary development structures should not be created by spending billions from the state fund in the name of someone. Something to be done for the people. The tendency of exploiting the poor people for their own and their own pleasure is in autocratic rule . This should not happen in a democracy. While creating development projects, people's priorities should be looked at, not for their own name,' said Pun.
Pun said that the Maoist-led government worked in favor of good governance and social justice.
