On Friday, 9 points were agreed between the protesting medical association and the Ministry of Health and Population regarding service facilities.
Health Minister Pradeep Paudel negotiated with the Nepal Physicians Association and agreed. With the agreement, the union has withdrawn the protest program. After the agreement, Minister Paudel has committed to start the process of implementing the agreement on behalf of the ministry. According to the prevailing rules, the Ministry has agreed to correspond with the Medical Education Commission and other agencies to make necessary arrangements for ensuring service facilities, holidays and health workplaces for internship and resident doctors.
Similarly, the meeting of the commission has decided to provide the living allowance of resident doctors maintained by the association as per the eighth level of the government of Nepal, so the ministry has committed to take initiatives before the stakeholders for implementation. As the Ministry has received prior approval from the decision of the Council of Ministers for the organization and management survey, it has committed to complete the survey and take it to the Council of Ministers to increase the posts of doctors and health workers.
It is said that a decision has already been taken from the 17th meeting of the Medical Education Commission about increasing the number of postgraduate seats held by the association. Regarding the permanent staff of the hospital development committee, the spokesperson of the ministry, Dr. A working group has been formed under the leadership of Prakash Budhathoki and it has also been agreed that the working group will prepare a procedure. The ministry has also committed to formulate the necessary laws within three months for risk allowances for all doctors working in hospitals and health institutions. The ministry has committed to include the demands of doctors in the draft of the doctor's bill.
After the association started protesting that their demands were not met, Minister Paudel appointed a team to negotiate to fulfill the demands. After two rounds of negotiations, after the agreement was reached, the doctors will leave the protest and go to the workplace regularly.
