21-Day East-West Political Tour of Maoists in Madhesh/Tarai

The Maoists have scheduled a three-week long awakening campaign in Madhesh and Terai districts where their organization is weak. The schedule of meeting and interaction in 20 districts of "Maoist with Janata, Terai/Madhesh Awakening Campaign" has been announced, focusing on the districts located on the East-West Postal Highway in the southernmost part of Nepal.

It said that because the organization of Maoists in Terai Madhesh is weak, they have started the campaign in that area. Maoist is in third position in Koshi state assembly. Among the 93 members of the state assembly, there are 13 members of the Maoists . Maoist Vice President and Spokesperson Agni Sapkota has informed that the campaign will start from Kachankawal in Jhapa, the lowest place of Nepal, from February 12 and will end by reaching Kanchanpur on March 7.

"In the first phase, it has been decided to start the Terai Madhesh campaign from Kachanakbal in Jhapa and go to the west," he said, "The meeting will be held in the area where the Hulaki highway is completed, while the program will be held in the Mahendra highway in the unconstructed area." He will have a team of 150 including leaders, activists and security personnel throughout the campaign. Locals will participate in the meeting to be held in 20 districts. Even if the Maoists call it a Jagran Sabha, it will remain as a warning meeting to the government.

Meetings are going to be held in Jhapa and Morang of Koshi province . Out of 107 members of Madhesh province, Maoists have won only 9 seats. Maoist is in sixth place in Madhesh province. Terai Madhesh Democratic Party is behind the Maoists . Madhesh in-charge and Deputy Secretary General Matrika Yadav said that since the organization of Maoists in Madhesh is weak, they have started a campaign focusing on Hulaki Highway. Although we have an organization in Madhesh, the situation is weak in some places,' he said, 'We want to connect the ideas of Maoists with the people of Madhesh.' "The campaign is going on to awaken the people in Madhesh and Terai," he said.

Maoists are scheduled to hold meetings and interactions in Saptari, Siraha, Dhanusha, Mahottari, Sarlahi, Rautahat, Bara and Parsa in Madhesh province. Lumbini State Assembly Maoist is in third place . Maoists have 11 members in the 87-member state assembly. Meetings will be held in Lumbi Parasi (Nawalparasi West) Rupandehi, Kapilvastu, Dang, Banke and Bardia.

Maoists have prepared to hold a meeting in Chitwan, Nawalparasi eastern part of Gandaki in Wagmati province. UML and Maoists have 11 members in the 53-member provincial assembly of Far West. Congress is in the first place with 11 members and UML-Maoist is in the second place . Meetings will be held in Kailali and Kanchanpur in Far West.

'The format of the campaign will be public meeting, choksabha, interaction, public meeting etc . "During the campaign, the location of the program will be decided as per the respective provinces and districts," said the decision of the Maoists. It is said that the party president Dahal participating in the

campaign team will consist of senior vice president, vice presidents, general secretary and deputy general secretary as well as cultural team and some media personnel. Maoists are ready to involve party leaders, workers, Jawas Morcha leaders, workers, supporters and well-wishers of the respective provinces and districts to participate in the campaign. Management of food, accommodation and other expenses of the campaign has been instructed to be done by the respective district parties under the leadership of the respective provincial in-charge.
