President Ramchandra Paudel has expressed his belief that democracy will further strengthen the comprehensive national unity with social justice, equality, social harmony and prosperity.
Giving greetings today on the occasion of Democracy Day, 2081, he said that it has established the belief that the people are the entire source of state power.
'This day is marked as a proud and unforgettable day in the history of Nepal because the belief that the sovereignty of the country should be vested in the people was established through the struggle of the people and the sacrifice of martyrs,' President Paudel said in his greetings, 'Federal Democratic Republic is an important achievement achieved by us Nepalis after seven decades of struggle. We have succeeded in establishing a federal democratic republic on the foundation of the 2007 revolution.'
President Paudel has stated that the Constitution of Nepal has adopted the federal democratic republican system and aims to build a socialist-oriented economy based on justice and equality. People's representatives have been elected through democratic elections and now three levels of government have been formed according to the constitution. These are certainly very big and historic achievements for us. I believe that our future happy journey has started on the foundation of these achievements,' he said.
President Paudel paid emotional tribute to all the known and unknown martyrs who sacrificed their precious lives in various struggles for the establishment of democracy in the country and also expressed his respect and reverence to all the veterans who led the movement.
Democracy Day is being celebrated on February 7th every year to commemorate and honor the historical achievement of achieving human rights and political freedom as a result of the successful revolution of 2007 and the sacrificial struggle against autocracy.
