The executive order of US President Donald Trump has finally affected the Millennium Challenge Account (MCA) Nepal program operated in Nepal.
Earlier, the Ministry of Finance said that the MCA would not be affected, but now the Secretariat of Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel has officially informed that the MCA Nepal program has also been suspended for three months.
"In an email sent by the American aid organization MCC on February 2, stakeholders are informed that the activities to be paid from MCC funds related to the project being implemented under the compact concluded on August 29, 2074 between the Government of Nepal and the said agency have been stopped according to the executive order of the American President on January 20, 2025 regarding the 90-day moratorium," the notification issued by the Secretariat of Finance Minister Paudelle said.
