Under the United Nations peacekeeping mission UNIFIL, a Nepalese army officer stationed in Lebanon was injured in an attack by protestors at Chok Dhakal. Dhakal, deputy force commander of the UNIFIL mission, was attacked near Beirut last night.

According to the army, the convoy carrying Dhaka was stopped and vandalized by a crowd of protesters. In the process, Dhakal was injured. The injured Dhakal was immediately taken to the UN level three hospital.

According to the army, his health condition is out of danger. UNIFIL Mission is the most complete peacekeeping mission of Nepali Army. The incident has been condemned by the United Nations. Regarding the incident, the UNIFIL mission headquarters issued a press statement saying that it was shocked by the attack on the peacekeepers serving to establish security and stability in South Lebanon.

Condemning the attack on peacekeepers, the United Nations has demanded an immediate investigation of the incident and necessary action from the Lebanese government.
