Now work permit from Abu Dhabi too

The government has also arranged for the provision of work permits from the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Labor, Employment and Social Security Minister Sharatsingh Bhandari launched the service in a program held in Dubai on Thursday.

According to the Nepali Embassy in Abu Dhabi, Minister Bhandari said that the government of Nepal will continue to make the services provided by the state easy, simple and technology-friendly, keeping in mind the interests and facilities of the workers who have gone abroad for employment.

Nepali workers will benefit from the provision of labor permits from the respective embassies,  He said that he will be freed from the hassle of going to Nepal and it will be easy to continue his profession and business. 

Minister Bhandari said that this arrangement will gradually flow from other embassies as well. He said that the country's large youth force is employed abroad, and that the main source of remittances is foreign employment, so it is necessary for the government to formulate necessary policies for the rights, interests and protection of Nepali workers and provide timely service facilities.

Ambassador of Nepal to the United Arab Emirates, Tej Bahadur Chhetri, while informing about the work being done by the embassy for the workers, said that once the 'online' labor approval service is available from the embassy, ​​it will be easier for the Nepalese government to provide the facility to the workers. 

He said that the Nepali Embassy in Abu Dhabi is always committed to protecting the rights and interests of Nepali workers and accordingly provided effective services despite the limited manpower and resources available at the embassy.

Ambassador Chettri expressed his belief that various services of the embassy have been provided through online system since the past and the work of obtaining labor permit will also be done online, which will improve service delivery.

On that occasion, representatives of non-resident Nepali associations and representatives of Nepali society in UAE participated in the event. Also, President of Non-Resident Nepali Association UAE Bikas Shahi and President of Nepali Society UAE Ram Moktan also expressed their views, according to the press release issued by the embassy. An interaction related to labor was also organized in the program.

It is the second embassy after Abu Dhabi Muscat to provide legalization work permit. Meanwhile, Minister Bhandari represented Nepal at the 'World Government Summit 2025' held in the UAE from last January 29 to this February 1.

More than 30 heads of state and government heads of the world participated in the conference, including representatives of 140 countries, representatives of various international and regional organizations, intellectual and academic experts, representatives of industry, commerce and the private sector, and six thousand  People participated. In the said summit, Chief Minister of Bagmati Province, Bahadur Singh Lamale  also participated.
