Today is World Radio Day. This day is being celebrated all over the world, including Nepal, with various awareness programs.

At the call of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), this day is being celebrated today by broadcasting a radio program to spread awareness about the problems caused by climate change and adaptation in a rapidly changing world. 

In 2011, UNESCO member countries proposed to celebrate February 13 as International Radio Day, but the United Nations General Assembly approved it in 2012.

Radio is the medium that reaches the largest audience and is the most listened to globally  . The role played by radio in maintaining diversity as well as unity, speaking, representing and listening to the voices of the voiceless is incomparable.

Radio, which has become a constant friend of the common people during calamities and inaccessible rural areas, has also played an admirable role in social change by providing information, entertainment and education. Radio is considered useful in promoting positive dialogue.
