The Patan Hetauda bench of the High Court has sentenced the girl to 20 years of imprisonment, finding that the girl was abducted, held hostage and forced.
The joint bench of Justices Yamuna Bhattarai and Sanumaiya Dangol sitting on Tuesday sentenced 24-year-old Radheshyam Ramchandra Mukhiya Veen alias Radheshyam from Chandrapur in Rautahat to 20 years of imprisonment for kidnapping, body hostage and rape of a 12-year-old girl.
The court has ordered to collect a fine of 7 lakh 20 thousand rupees from Veen. The High Court overturned the decision of the Chitwan District Court. Earlier, the Chitwan court had decided to imprison for 4 years for kidnapping and body hostage and imposed a fine of 40,000 rupees.
The High Court has sentenced Veen to 18 years in prison for extortion and 2 years for kidnapping. On January 2, 2077, Veen kidnapped a 12-year-old girl while returning home from school and kept her locked in a room for a few days in Rautahat and raped her.
