Opposition protest at the meeting of the House of Representatives

The MPs of the opposition party protested demanding that the meeting of the House of Representatives should be conducted according to the rules and procedures.

In today's meeting of the House of Representatives, after the emergency time and zero time process was completed, Deputy Speaker Indira Rana Magar, who was in the Speaker's seat, gave Nepali Congress MP Ramhari Khatiwada time to speak.

Member of Parliament Khatiwada expressed his opinion on the issue of lawyers being beaten in the court premises. After MP Khatiwada made his speech, MP Ganesh Parajuli of Rashtriya Swatantra Party announced the rules.

He questioned the ruling party parliamentarians saying under which rules they were allowed to speak after the emergency and zero time. The Deputy Speaker, who was in the Speaker's seat, said that MP Khatiwada had mentioned the name at the time of emergency, but she was allowed to speak because she missed it.

After MPs from opposition parties including CPN (Maoist Center) raised questions about the method and process by which MPs from the ruling party were allowed to speak repeatedly, Deputy Speaker Rana said that the secretariat has been instructed to study what happened. However, the MPs of the opposition party were not satisfied.

The chief whip of the main opposition party Maoist Center Hitraj Pandey said that the meeting should be conducted according to rules and procedures. Speaker Devraj Ghimire informed that the meeting of the House of Representatives has been adjourned for 15 minutes after the continuous protest of the opposition party.
