The Abuse of Authority Investigation Commission, established to control corruption, has entered its 34th year from today. The 34th Foundation Day is being celebrated today at the office of the Commission in Tangal with various programs related to the promotion of good governance.

According to Ghanshyam Upadhyay, Secretary of the Commission, President Ramchandra Paudel has been invited as the chief guest of the program. The Commission is a constitutional body established with the aim of controlling all kinds of corruption. 

The Constitution of Nepal mandates the commission to focus on corruption control. The right has been granted. According to the spirit of the constitution, the commission is performing its role by adopting punitive, preventive, promotional and institutional capacity development strategies.

Article 239 of the Constitution provides for the work, duties and rights of the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority. In that article, it is mentioned that "the Abuse of Authority Investigation Commission can investigate or conduct an investigation in accordance with the law regarding abuse of authority by a person holding a public position"  is

If a person holding a public position is found to have committed any act considered corruption according to the law, the Abuse of Authority Investigation Commission may file a case against such person and other persons involved in the crime in the court authorized according to the law.

According to the 34th annual report of the commission, in the financial year 2080/81, 26 thousand nine hundred and 18 complaints were filed with the commission and its subordinate offices, and 27 thousand seven hundred and 14 out of the 9 thousand two hundred and sixty eight complaints that were transferred from last year.
