The Nepal Samajwadi Party (New Power) has amended the constitution so that a 99-member central committee is elected based on the principle of inclusive proportionality. The convention held in the capital on Monday passed the law to have a central committee consisting of 90 directly elected and 9 nominated.
Dalits, tribal tribes, Khas Arya, Madhesi, Tharu, Muslims and religious, sexual and ethnic linguistic minority communities are represented on the basis of selection of the central committee.
It is mentioned in the statute that the chairman of the central committee will be elected through an open election system and the number of office bearers will be 11 . Out of 5 Vice-Presidents, 1 woman, 1 Khas/Arya, Tribal, 1 Madhesi/Tharu, 1 Dalit.
The general secretary of NESP (New Power) 1 is to be elected through an open election system . Out of the 3 secretaries, 2 will be open and 1 secretary will be selected as a woman . There is a provision in the statute that a treasurer of the new power will be elected through an open election system.
20 people will be elected from 10 provinces out of 79 central members, 2 people from each province (1 open, 1 woman). Out of the remaining 59 central members, 12 will be elected through the open election system. Out of which 6 will be open, 2 women, 2 youth, 2 young women . Among the 14 members under the Khas Arya cluster, 6 will be open, 3 women, 4 youth, 1 young woman member.
Among the 13 members of the tribal cluster, 6 are open, 3 are women, 3 are youth, and 1 is a young woman. Among the 7 members under the Madhesi cluster, 4 will be open, 1 female, 1 youth, 1 young female member. Out of 6 members under Dalit cluster, 3 will be open 1 woman, 1 youth, 1 young woman member.
Under the Tharu cluster, 1 out of 3 members will be open, 1 woman, 1 youth member . Minority community Muslims 1 out of 2 open and 1 female and 2 female members from minorities and differently abled religious sexual, ethnic/linguistic minorities .
