Home Minister Ramesh Akhtar has said that the work being done by the police in controlling the crimes happening in the country is commendable. He said that apart from maintaining peace and security in the country, the Ministry of Home Affairs is also working on policy and legal reforms.
In the opening program of the Nepal Police Club The Blue Pavilion on Saturday, the Home Minister said that in the 7 months since the formation of the government, the government has moved forward by prioritizing its work, goals, objectives and activities. Stating that the Ministry of Home Affairs has drafted a new Nepal Police Act and registered it in the Parliament, he informed that the draft law on the Armed Police Force of Nepal has also been drafted in a timely manner and has reached the House of Representatives.
Stating that the government has registered a bill in the parliament to amend the Nepali Citizenship Act in a timely manner so that citizenship can be obtained through the mother's name, Home Minister Akbar informed that the government has moved forward to amend the Immigration Act as well.
