Home Minister Ramesh Akhtar has expressed the government's commitment to protect Neha Rauniyar and Satyendra Ram from Barhathwa in Sarlahi, who are married for love.
Answering the questions raised by MPs during today's meeting of the House of Representatives, he said that the love relationship between Neha and Satyendra was drawn to his attention and said that the government is working to implement the right against discrimination.
While mentioning that Nepali Congress, which he belongs to, has been against untouchability since birth, he made it clear that he is not against inter-caste marriage. "Inter-caste marriage is recognized by law, the ministry implements it literally, it is a myth to say that there was an atrocity by the home minister. This issue has been clarified by the ministry, the government is trying to provide protection to the victims. Neha and Satyendra's safety, the government will take it seriously,' said the Home Minister. He also requested the media not to push the society towards division by breaking the
facts and not to prepare such news material.
