Two Nepalis who have been in Ukraine prison for 9 months were rescued on Thursday and sent to Nepal. Sher Sangbo Sherpa of Dolakha and Phurwa Sherpa of Tehrathum were rescued and sent home by the Nepali Embassy in Berlin, Germany, which deals with Ukraine affairs. Ukraine has kept them in prison since last May for violating Ukraine's immigration laws.

They were sent to Nepal from Meldova International Airport. The embassy coordinated with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the Border Security Force of Ukraine, the Embassy of Moldova in Kyiv and the unpaid consul of Sri Lanka for Ukraine to rescue them.

In the third week of January 2023, countries bordering Ukraine have not issued entry permits to foreigners who are trying to enter their country from Nepal, including Ukraine.

The embassy has appealed to everyone not to get involved in the process of entering Europe and other countries from Ukraine under the lure of human traffickers. "It is extremely difficult to enter Ukraine and rescue it in a disaster situation by any means. It requests all Nepali citizens not to enter Ukraine under this or that pretext," said the statement issued by the embassy on Thursday.
