261 passengers who were going to Nepal were stranded in Narita, Japan when the wheel of the widebody plane of Nepal Airlines Corporation got punctured. Annapurna Widebody (Alpha Lima Yankee) had a punctured wheel while returning to Kathmandu from Narita Airport on Monday.
While going from the apron to the runway, the left landing gear wheel was punctured. The plane took off from Tribhuvan International Airport on Sunday night. It flew to Japan with 192 passengers.
Nigam's technical spokesperson Manoj Kumar Sah said that since the Nigam does not have a local MRO agent in Japan, efforts are being made to find spare wheels through other foreign airlines and return the ship to Kathmandu soon. This is an aircraft with flight number RA-434 . It was supposed to take off from there at 9:25 a.m. local time in Japan and land in Kathmandu at 3 p.m. .
After having to remove the punctured wheel and replace it with a new one, the employees of the corporation's station in Japan searched for a wheel suitable for the corporation's widebody with Thai and Singapore Airlines flying there. A deputy director of the corporation said that since Thai has a wheel but does not have the equipment to change it, the corporation is requesting the wheel from Singapore Airlines and is repairing it .
Flight time from Narita to Kathmandu takes about 9 hours. Now, when the plane takes off from there, the Tribhuvan International Airport will be closed for infrastructure expansion, so the widebody will return only on Tuesday . Technical spokesman Sah said that all the passengers of the plane were kept in three hotels.
