This is why Saraswati Puja is given great importance. It is believed that if one starts studying after worshiping Saraswati these days, one will attain perfection.
Nowadays, it is believed that one should not watch Sait for social and religious activities such as weddings, vows, keeping a cave and belgivah (ihi). On this day, it is considered auspicious to start education for children and to pierce their nose and ears. Devotees, especially students, are thronging the Saraswati temples in Dillibazar, Swayambhu, Maitidevi and Neelasaraswati in Gairidhara, Lele in Lalitpur and other districts of the valley from early this morning. There is a religious belief that Vidya and Vuddhi are ignited in the seven grains of Akshata Neele offered to Saraswati and the light of consciousness is obtained from Vidya Devi.
