Damodar Khadka, proposed as a member of the Judicial Council, has said that judges have the main responsibility of increasing public confidence in the court.

While presenting his action plan at the meeting of the Parliamentary Hearing Committee under the Federal Parliament on Sunday, Khadka said that the main person to increase public trust in the court is the judge.

In the parliamentary hearing committee, Khadka said that administration of justice is a matter of public concern. He said, 'I believe that the judge should be the main person to increase public confidence in the court as the work of administration of justice is a matter of general public concern.'

Khadka said that the person appointed to that position should be brought in a transparent manner as the judge is the key person to increase the public's faith in the court. "When making recommendations for the appointment of judges, my efforts will be towards making the basis of recommendations established in Section 5 of the Judicial Council Act, 2073 more objective and transparent," he said.

He has expressed his commitment to support the Chief Justice and the Chairman of the Judicial Council, the person who has the ultimate responsibility for the administration of justice, while upholding the values and recognition established as a member of the Judicial Council. "I am fully committed to improving and maintaining the dignity of the judiciary in terms of enhancing the image of the judiciary," he said, "be it recommending the transfer or employment of judges of the high court and district courts, or judicial monitoring and surveillance of their activities, or taking disciplinary action against them. Regardless of the context, I will contribute to make the work of the judicial council more institutionalized and transparent in matters such as studying and investigating the complaint, prosecuting corruption cases as needed.'

As a member of the judicial council, Khadka said, "Continuously advocating for human rights and democratic values is my profession, identity and faith. I will make a positive contribution personally and institutionally for a faithful and believing judiciary by putting into practice the meaning of cooperation, coordination and coexistence between the direct and indirect stakeholders of the entire judiciary, especially the bench and the bar.'

Khadka has written in his action plan, 'Remembering the independent, fair and competent judiciary for the protection of democracy and human rights of the country, I sincerely request this dignified committee to be committed to work for the institutional interest of the judicial council and the proud role played by the judiciary and the Nepal Bar Association.
